SB 209 -- HIGHWAY DESIGNATION

SPONSOR:  Koster (St. Onge)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Transportation by a vote of 16 to 0.

This bill designates the portion of State Highway 58 in Johnson
County from the intersection of State Highway U west to State
Highway 131 as the "Veterans Memorial Parkway."  The erection and
maintenance of signage will be paid for by the Veterans of
Foreign Wars in the City of Holden.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2006, FY 2007, and
FY 2008.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that this designation will be a
fitting tribute to the veterans of the area.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Pearce for Senator
Koster.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
